Lauren’s Signature Style -

My signature style 'Eclectic Elegance' is now starting to make an impact on the design industry, not only in London but abroad too.

Though I can adapt my designing to the clients' needs and desires, my most successful projects have come from my signature style which I like to call 'Eclectic Elegance'.

Your home should be beautiful yet practical at the same time. It should be a place where you feel comfortable letting your children and dogs run around while still attaining that beauty that great design can achieve.

I take a lot of my inspiration from the signature style of designer Rachel Ashwell - 'Shabby Chic' - yet I like to tone down the shabby while still making a house feel like a home - comfortable, lived in and elegant.

If I am designing your home in my signature style, I will look for one off, unique pieces, such as a chandelier or wall light, from antique fairs and flea markets. I have been known to find Louis style chairs and then have them upholstered in a more modern fabric - therefore you have a unique piece of furniture in your home but it has been made into a chair on which you can actually sit instead of feeling like it is too precious.

Sofa's should be comfortable and practical, yet beautiful. Dining areas should be a place that is focused on the main aspect of dining - eating. And walls should not be forgotten. In some rooms they can be a focal point boasting feature walls with ornate wallpaper or suede and in others, can be toned down to emulate that understated elegance.

After studying Feng Shui, I also like to incorporate symmetry into my designs. Eclecticism does not have to mean clutter - I feel that symmetry brings a certain equilibrium to decoration and makes the client feel at ease in their home.

In short, eclecticism mixed with elegance, symmetry, comfort and practicality are the fundamental 'rules' of my design.
